Don Mann: Focusing on my Craft

Tuesday, Jan. 06, 2004 - 5:12 p.m.

As the seas coldly beckon

~~

Sunset scatters the clouds from the skies

Reality stands back as fantasy fills the air outside

The sun's last rays make their journey to our eyes

I realize then we are the only ones alive

~~

The earth's spinning slower now and time stands still

Confused the clocks fall silent from the shelves

Our eyes swallow the images like a handfull of sedative pills

Skin becomes airbrushed by darkening clouds leaving our lonely thoughts to consume themselves

~~

I open my wintry coat to show you my soul

You open your arid mouth to breathe a lie

Stardust bombards the landscape and swallows logic whole

Icy tears fall as meteorites from two azure wells in the sky

~~

Pain flows through as thunderbolts let loose from a gabled roof

Lightning rods absorb the shock and insulate our fears

Leaving behind skeletal charcoal as life's only proof

We shake our hands in disbelief and solemnly disappear

~~

I reach out for meaning

You reach out for me

I seek the truth behind the screen

You seek the truth that sets men free

I live the lie that man hath wrought

Blessed and forged in kiln of paternity

You die a death no man hath sought

I learn the lessons of those before

You forget the teachings of divinity

I seek the cures of agony and the sore

You search for the faith in unity

Seeds of the stars I know we are not

It is better to die in sacrifice

Than under will of gods man forgot

The blood still flows from the veins of beast and man alike

Delve Into The Past - Onward Into The Future
