Don Mann: Focusing on my Craft Wednesday, Nov. 19, 2003 - 2:07 p.m. Well, after much pain and suffering, I finally have re-strung my mandolin. It wasn't easy, I'll tell you that. Tuning those high strings was pure terror. With each tiny twist of the tuning peg I could hear the string bend and stretch, waiting to snap and slash my eyes and wrists. How funny would that be? "FREAK ACCIDENT: Man killed by snapping mandolin string." Next time I do it I'm going to wear a full bomb defusing suit complete with thick face mask. All that is behind me now, though. Now I just have an incredibly sweet sounding instrument which I add a little reverb to, maybe a taste of delay...and boom, EXCELLENCE. Now I have eight functional instruments at my disposal.
